More from SU! Convention ~

It was such a treat to get to get to go to the Stampin' Up! Convention this year. Rod and I went together and enjoyed a little vacation from the everyday routine. He enjoyed biking in Park City and the canyons around Salt Lake City while I was at convention during the day. In the evenings we met up for dinner and sightseeing around the city. Here are a few more pictures from Convention.

This is a tote bag we were able to buy. Love it! It matches my craft room and I have it filled with my basic supplies on my desk, so I can just grab it and go crafting. And there is a matching laptop bag that makes a perfect bag for church.
I loved this display of the new Brights Collection of Stampin' Pads. Aren't these colors gorgeous?

This is a picture of me and Becky Roberts. She is a demonstrator from Boise who has a fun, creative blog that I love to read. The orange bag that you see everyone carrying is the bag that each one of us got for attending convention. Yes, I have lots of new bags, but a girl can never have too many cute bags!

One of the new products they introduced this year was fabric that matches the Designer Series Papers. There are two collections. Here are a few of the samples they had on display.
And I had to get a picture of this beautiful necklace that Shelli was wearing in one of the general sessions. It is a Simply Adorned Charm with some of the new additions from the Holiday Mini. Love it!

News from Convention ~

I have had such a great time at the Stampin' Up! Convention so far.  The classes have been amazing. I've decided a motivational speaker can pretty much motivate you to do anything. Not only in a craft centered business, but in life in general. Another fun thing has been all of the ideas I've seen. I'm adding a few pictures of some of these creative ideas so you can see what I mean. (I don't have my good computer, so they aren't edited yet.)

Stampin' Up! Convention ~

Hello from Utah!

And if you are new then welcome to my blog. Rod and I are off on a little vacation in SLC. I am going to the Stampin' Up! Convention and he is going Mountain Biking. There are a lot of trails around Salt Lake and up in Park City, so he should be busy enough while I am hanging out with my stampin' friends. I will have my iphone with me to take pictures and add updates, so be sure and check back tomorrow.

It's my day on UStamp! ~

If you have been following my blog, you know I was asked to be a Guest Designer for UStamp! It is an online Stampin' Up! class. Dawn Rapsas has organized it, and includes several designers from all over the world to share projects and ideas. Well, my project is up today, and there is another variation version coming up tomorrow. It was fun to be asked to be a part of this. Just thought you would like to know. Here is a peek at my project.I've had lots of fun creating with the new stamps that have come out this fall, so you'll have to stop back and see what I've made.

New Stamp Samples ~

It's been quite a while since I took a couple of hours in the middle of the day and just made Stampin' Up! samples. But, tonight I have a workshop and wanted to show some of the fun new things from the catalog. The box at the bottom is an original. I will try and get a tutorial up later. For a begineer Paper Engineer it turned out quite nice. I will be teaching some of these projects at Hostess Club meetings in the next few months. So if you want to get in on the fun let me know.

Color Challenge Card ~

This picture really doesn't show off this card too well, but I love these colors together and it is gorgeous in real life. I used Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, Old Olive and Baja Breeze stamp pads from Stampin' Up! And the stamps are from the Friends 24/7 set.

A couple of cute bags ~

I took a bit of time this morning and made a couple of bags for Valentine's Day. This first one uses a bag template from Papertrey Ink. Pretty cute. I think I will put a little Valentine treat in here for Kymber and Sydni. Sorry Michelle, no peeking!

These next two pictures are of another project that we are doing Feb. 12 with the ladies from Church. They are really simple and quick to do. It should be a lot of fun helping all of the Mom's and Grandma's make their valentines. It has been terrible having candy around to make samples with, because I'm not eating any of it. If I splurge on candy, it will be fancy dark chocolate. And I didn't get any of that for this project. But these pink M&Ms are sure cute!

Twist Container Instructions ~

I am teaching a class Thursday night on making a Christmas Countdown with these Twist Containers full of treats to count down each day of December until Christmas Day. What started out as a paper sheet of sketched instructions ended up being a picture tutorial. I hope you enjoy these and find the time to make your own Countdown to Christmas.

1~ Cut your patterned papers into 4 x 6 inch pieces. I used the Holiday Treasures papers from Stampin' Up! (One package of their designer series paper will do three 24 day countdowns.) Add strips of Sticky Strip tape as shown in the photo. One 4 " piece along the short end and a 1 3/4 inch piece in about 1/2" from the first piece, along the top. (It takes about 5 yards of Sticky Strip to do 24, but you have to keep it to 7 and 1/2 inches per container. I know this seems odd, but this way you can keep costs down and kit making much easier.)

2~ Remove the tape backing and roll the paper into a tube. Seal the edge. I over lapped the edge about 1/2 inch.

3~ Remove the backing from the short piece and press the edges together.

4~ Use a paper crimper to seal the end.

5~ Fill the container with candy. You can fit almost 1/4" cup of m&ms in each one, or a few kisses or small candy bars.

6~ Twist the container and put another 1 3/4" piece of sticky strip at the open end. Remove the backing and seal to close.

7~ Crimp the end closed.

8~ Now you can add tags or labels to your containers. Here are a couple of ideas. I used red twine from Stampin' Up! or you can use matching ribbon. For the class I have printed out numbers to be punched out and decorated.

9~ Put all of your twist containers in a basket and make a tag. You could label it with a child's or family name: "Kymber's Countdown to Christmas" or "Haws Family Countdown to Christmas:
Wouldn't a basket like this make a great neighbor gift. These also work great as Baby Shower or Wedding favors.

Pocket Card ~

Isn't this fun. It is a pocket card that can hold photos, a gift card or just a message. The "for you" band slides off the card so it opens to show the pocket. The pattern for this came from http://www.ustamp.blogspot.com/ I used new Urban Garden designer papers from Stampin' Up!

Fancy Sock Monkey Card ~

Did you know that Sock Monkey looks great fancied up with Bella Rose designer papers? This will be a fun and really versatile stamp set. And from what I hear there is another accessory set to go with it in the new catalog.

My daughter, Kristine is making a Sock Monkey Magnet set to decorate her locker for school. I'll try and get a picture of it up when she is finished.

New Cards ~

I finally got some time to stamp today. I colored these last night after we finished the wood floor in the upstairs hall. We're taking a break before we finish the moulding. Anyway, here are a couple of new cards.
This "Cute" baby card uses a Stampin' Up! stamp and Prima papers and flowers. Cardstock is Purely Pomegranate and I used Copic markers.

This Congrats card uses the Lockhart Sunflower stamp and Basic Grey papers. Close to Cocoa cardstock and Copic Markers. The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Enjoy,

Wendy

Notebook Cover Project~

This was a fun, quick and easy project. I borrowed the pattern from cambriaturnbow.blogspot.com. Thanks!
I used the SU! Blooming with Love stamp set and the paper is from We R Memory Keepers White Out Collection.
